La Luz de Jesus Gallery presents "Still In Hollywood" featuring artists Johnette Napolitano and Jason Bogart. This event will feature Johnette Napolitano reading extracts from her book "Rough Mix", the first of a series of her memoirs, stories, poetry, lyrics and essays. Napolitano will also display for the first time original hand-drawn artwork from the book which will be available for sale to the public (most pages are $300 each –call for availability). Best known as the lead singer, songwriter and bassist for the Los Angeles post-punk band Concrete Blonde, Johnette has long been an established conceptual artist as well, with a series of paintings, sculptures and multi-media pieces to her credit.

"Still in Hollywood", also the title of Concrete Blonde's 1994 album, brings Napolitano's music and art full circle with the ghosts and lore of old Hollywood serving as inspiration for both. Johnette explains, "I was born in Hollywood. This show is what it's about to me, from silent films to a city gone to seed, rediscovered and occupied by the punks and runaways and dreamers back when the band started. There's always been a dark side."

Napolitano will share the evening with friend and local artist Jason Bogart. For his contribution to "Still In Hollywood", Bogart has painted a series of Hollywood icons stamped with the make-up of rocker Alice Cooper. This bringing together of vintage film and rock n' roll, as well as the creative metros of Detroit and Hollywood comprises a series that in his words is "an affair of my youth and influences." Bogart is the fourth cousin to Hollywood icon Humphrey Bogart. A native of Detroit, Bogart works with both sides of his brain by using both hands to create in two completely different styles.
