John Griswold & Maryrose Crook-Persistence of Vision

Opening Reception Saturday, September 10th, 5 pm-9 pm La Luz de Jesus Gallery is pleased to present Persistence of Vision, a two-artist exhibition featuring artwork by John Griswold & Maryrose Crook from September 10-October 1, 2022. Persistence of vision traditionally refers to the optical illusion that occurs when visual perception of an object does not cease for some time after the rays of light proceeding from it have ceased to enter the eye. The illusion has also been described as “retinal persistence,” “persistence of impressions”, simply “persistence,” and other variations. An example of the phenomenon is the apparent fiery trail of glowing coal or burning stick while it is whirled around in the dark.
